Videoranch 3D - The Reviews Are In!
I'm Fried Pies, your roving reporter, here today with this special report. After hearing all the hooplah over this Videoranch 3D, I decided to go over and check it out. I talked to some of the people who hang out in there, and this is what they had to say....
First I met Heather...
I found VR3D through Michael's Nesmith's Fan Club
site. I think what I like best are the people, plus there is so much to explore. The
interactive stuff is great, but I like spending time at the waterfall or the island as
well.
Charley agrees with Heather that one of his favorite things about the place are the people....
I found out about this from a
note sent out by Bubba Crutch (Videoranch Foreman). I think right now my favorite spot
would be the Formosa Diner, though I like the waterfall too. Actually, I like everything
in here. For an old Nez fan like me, this place is paradise.
Fried Pies: What would you like to see Videoranch add in here, new avatars or maybe
another scene from an album? How about a scene from a Nez video, like an Eldorado that
flies to the moon
CharleyO: How about a scene from "Beyond the Blue Horizon?" You know, a tractor,
chickens, and other stuff from the scene of the song, a barn maybe. Anyway, I could come
up with all sorts of stuff from the Nez albums.
Fried Pies: They could put a speaker with the "Blue Horizon" song by the
scene. Do have any ideas for new avatars?
CharleyO: A yellow butterfly would be a good avatar.
Which Doctor, who hails from Australia, says he also found out from the Ranch.
I come in mostly to be with
friends, people I share a common interest with. I have two favorite places in here, the
waterfall and the island. They have everything in here, though I would suggest they use
MP3's instead of WAVS.
Angie found VR3D when she visited the
Videoranch.com website.
I like going to VR3 because it has a great group of people in there. We can have a laugh,
cheer each other up in a crisis, and watch some cool videos and listen to some cool music.
I like the way we can teleport around and the way we send telegrams. Most recently, I've
learned how to enjoy a skate off Rollin's Rock (Sorry Rollin!!) But flying around and just
being there in general is fun, it's a nice place to be in!
Clem had a lot to say about VR3D...
I was first introduced to VR3D
when it was still brand new and underconstruction under the galaxy of Active Worlds.
At that time VR3D was a very pretty place to visit with graphics and artistry that was
pleasant to the eye plus some added objects unique to the ranch such as the jeep and the
balloon. Since the move from that small world in AW to the galaxy,VR3D has become
one of the most interactive and unique places in realm of virutal reality.
Through audio and visual aspects along with genuine originality both expressed through
ideals and concepts this particular realm is highly entertaining as well as
enjoyable to visit. From the graphic designs of a "diner" to a "waterfall';
from the audio of music to the visual of short films and skits, this place promises to
keep even the lightest of interest entertained. With the ever striving preformance
and instegation of fresh ideas from the team at Videoranch, this glaxay is sure to
continue to strive both in the realm of artistic design, communtications, and audio and
visual interpretation.
Jan says:
I found out about VR3D from Slim. I liked
the early one, which was 'Justus' but find the new one a bit impersonal.
I don't go there nearly as much because I enounter a lot of people who are still at the
'how many woolhats does Mike have?' stage. I don't mean to make that sound elitist, but it
was ever so nice just to talk to people who are really into Nez and not just passing
Monkee fans who think he is frozen in time aged 24. I used to think of it as 'home', but
not so now it has opened up.
I enjoy going there to meet up with friends. I go there alone sometimes to think. But the
novelty has worn off the scenery now.
I would like to see new stuff there, not just clips of stuff that is years old and that we
already have. It takes so long to download the clips and the quality is so poor on the
movie ones, it isn't worth it, when you can just play 'One Ton Tomato' on your video.
But I haven't been in for ages, because of the having to get up at 2 a.m. to meet people
there...so I'm probably not a good judge.
I just hope Nez makes what he wants of it.
Tommy had this to say about Videoranch 3D...
I found out about VR3D during one
of my weekly sabbaticals to Videoranch to see what's new.
I think it's very neat. The scenery is beautiful. KPIG is a great radio
station. Plus, I got to meet some great people. Many times I'll talk about Nez
and folks will ask, "Who?" I was able to meet like-minded Nezheads that
are as enthusiastic about his work as I am. So many time when I venture on the 'net,
I find a lot of rude and obnoxious people that only want to complain about anything they
can think of. Here, I was able to meet polite people that may sometimes disagree,
but still are willing to support Michael's projects. This is what a fan community
should be. Proof that Nezfans are very classy, like he is.
What would he like to see added?
I don't know. Can't wait for the train to start running. I like the subtle
surprises each time I go in.
