Book Soup

On Monday, January 25, Nez appeared in a 5 minute interview on KTLA TV morning news in Los Angeles. Shortly before 8:00 PM that evening Nez arrived at Book Soup for his book signing appearance. The weather that night was very cold and damp but it did not keep the fans away. The crowd was larger than anticipated so it was decided that Michael would not read from his book in order to give him more time to talk with his fans.Michael was very pleasant, warm and friendly. He had a smile on his face most all the time.

Michael’s appearance at Book Soup on January 25 in Los Angeles. began with Nez sitting down at a counter posed with a copy of his novel while the media took photos and a few TV stations videotaped him. I then presented Michael with an award in the presence of the media. I was so nervous I held the plaque backwards so no one could see it! The plaque had pictures of several of Michael's solo albums, his Grammy award winning video Elephant Parts, The Monkees album Headquarters and the logo for Nez' Pacific Arts Corporation. The statement on the award read:

"Presented to Michael Nesmith in recognition for your great integrity, commitment to excellence, and dedication to your art. You are honest and individual and have remained true to your visions and beliefs and have not succumbed to outside pressure. Your intelligence, sensitivity and high standards are reflected in your work and this is the true beauty that your art possesses. Michael, you are a role model, teacher and friend whose wisdom from your own lessons in life has helped so many others find their way and better their lives. We thank you and offer you our deepest admiration , love and respect. From your loyal fans and Dedicated Friends."
